Could TV viewing be a danger to you and your children? Studies suggest a risk for not only adults but children. The risks associated with watching television include obesity, hypertension, Type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease. The analysis goes further to include the risk of all-cause mortality.
The more fundamental underlying issue is the American lifestyle which includes more than simply extended time watching TV. Computer usage and video games are also significant contributors. A few studies suggest that the added danger associated with watching TV is the commercials that influence eating habits. You add chips, burgers and fries to a couch potato watching TV and you have a prescription for a health disaster.
